Transferwise, Mastercard plan global expansion

Transferwise is expanding its partnership with Mastercard for global card issuance.

In Brief:

  • The ForEx FinTech will now be able to issue cards in any market Mastercard operates in and Transferwise is licensed.

  • The pair have been issuing cards since 2018.

  • Existing markets are the US, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Europe – and Japan is next on the list.

What does this mean?

The partnership means Transferwise cards could potentially become available in almost every country in the world. The FinTech says it wants its process to have the same level of convenience anywhere in the world and Mastercard is a key partner to achieve this.
